Sleepwalker's Station
Manitoba
Following the success of the album Lorca released in 2018 (nominated for the German Record Critics' Award, Liederbestenliste) and the incredibly positive response from the press and radio both in Germany and abroad (such as the presentation of the entire album on Spanish national radio RTVE and Deutschlandfunk), the Italo-German-Spanish music collective Sleepwalker's Station presents its new, creative creation Manitoba. In keeping with the philosophy of its predecessor, this album is also filled with small, sparkling diamonds - songs in 5 languages and various dialects.Indie folk, infused with colourful splashes of chanson, waltz, canzone d'autore, bossa nova and even unexpected cumbia rhythms that are rather atypical for the genre. Added to this are the fine spices of various guest musicians from all over Europe - from Iceland to Andalusia - who refine Manitoba with their regional characteristics to create a very special work. Most of the eleven songs were recorded during a live recording session on the Atlantic in Portugal and later edited in the Harz Mountains at 7V Studio, where the overdubs also took place and most of the additional instruments were recorded. The song Munchen, on the other hand, was recorded in the Bavarian capital together with local musicians such as Wolfi Schlick (Embryo, Express Brass band) Chris Stoger (Keller Steff Big Band, Darcy, MarieMarie, Stefan Dettl) Clemens Becker (Funkonfusion, Men of the Yeah). Once again, the band did not want to do without unusually beautiful voices such as those of ris Thorarins from Iceland, Bea Bacher from the Landle and Zora Schiffer from Berlin. Also not to be forgotten are the musical interludes by Elena Seeger (trombone) and Theresa Thut (clarinet), who add the finishing touches to Manitoba.
