Sebastopol
Moondust And Black Stars
The third album by Sebastopol, brainchild of Marc Debroey, is a fact. While the first album "Sebastopolis" and the second album "The Landing" were full of long journeys, emotions and nostalgia, the third brings a lot more tranquility. The tranquility of coming home. Moondust and Black Stars stands for inner calmness and offers room for the listener to enjoy this peace. An album of few words, no messages, no indictment, no protest, no biographical things, ... but trying to create a space and an environment to stop and contemplate. This without reservation and in complete freedom, nothing is obligatory and everything is allowed. On Moondust and Black Stars Sebastopol remains musically speaking within his eternal and old love "Ambient". And there it is: the A-word. A genre that until now is being used in the wrong context than it covers the load. Ambient means "surrounding": an environment where you are surrounded by sounds and where you are absorbed or where you let yourself be carried away by them. And that's it. Nothing more and nothing less. This environment is created by sound synthesis, a difficult word for "actually just turning the knobs, hearing, feeling and listening". Does it sound good and does it feel good? Then it is good, simple. Or so it should be. Moondust and Black Stars is a very modest "homage" to all pioneers of electronic music. This is Belgian NeuMusik Chapter 27.
