Now in his 75th year, the tenor saxophonist Bernt Rosengren, with his sharp and driving playing, certainly stands up to that demand, always maintaining effective, rewarding interplay with the pianist and bassist and staying in close rapport, not least with the drummer. Thus, the music of Rosengren's quartet is a work of reciprocal exchange in which each player influences the others - and isn't that by definition what a jazz group is all about?
