Well, The Story Is
REKK, once a five-piece band from the Ruhr area, is now a loose collective that welcomes old acquaintances as well as new musicians: inside. The heart of the project, however, has remained: Matti Kaiser, who gives REKK his trademark as a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer and singer. Together with guitarist and producer Moritz Bailly, they recorded sometimes in isolation, sometimes in presence between Hamburg, Berlin, Waltrop and the Ruhr area. Their pieces start as simple singer-/songwriter numbers, but quickly pull the listener: inside into an intense maelstrom with depth. This is ensured not only by Matti Kaiser's intimate lyrics, but above all by the organic interweaving of up-and-coming musicians: inside from jazz and classical music such as violist Gabriel Uhde, pianist Sophia Oster, drummer Dominic Harrison, guitarist Filip Dinev or trumpeter and horn player Philipp Puschel. "Well, The Story Is" has become a quiet record that sets melancholy to music, gives a rhythm to the raindrops on the window and seduces you to go on a journey of thoughts with them.
