Nadolny, Werner -'s Jane-
Fur Immer Jane
Writing about Werner Nadolny means telling several stories at once. The result is a book that of course traces his life, but at the same time also touches on the history of the Federal Republic and the development of German rock history. Of course, a story about Werner Nadolny is inevitably also a story about the legendary krautrock band Jane, which made a name for itself in the 1970s and 80s in particular and still has a large international fan base today. Werner Nadolny was a founding member of Jane, an important composer and a man who set standards on the keyboards. But he also experienced artistic disputes and interpersonal disputes here, which this book cannot ignore. For a long time, his membership of Jane was like an on-off relationship, the creative side paths of which would be worth a book of their own. Writing about Werner Nadolny also means telling about his illness and how he deals with it. Nadolny suffered from multiple sclerosis (MS) for decades. Controlling this insidious nervous disease, slowing its progression, and still allowing for joy in life and creative work, that was the second major theme in Werner Nadolny's life. He died on May 22, 2023 at the age of 76. The content of this book is based not only on classic research work but also on the memories of Werner Nadolny and many of those who accompanied him on his complex life's journey. Expressions of opinion, including polarizing ones, are reproduced in the knowledge that there are certainly people who remember and evaluate the respective events differently.
