Komeda, Krzysztof
Kraksa (1956-65 Film Music From Wfo Vaults)
The complete recordings made by Krzysztof Komeda at the Lodz Educational Film Studio. Phenomenal jazz scores for three excellent films by Edward Etler from 1963-65, and an absolute rarity - film music performed by Komeda's Sextet from 1956! In the first half of the 1960s, Krzysztof Komeda successfully balanced creating original jazz music and performing it with his ensembles, and working on film music. In this field, he often incorporated jazz forms and harmonies, which can be clearly heard in the educational films directed by Edward Etler. The music for "Kraksa" features poignant saxophone phrases, "Okolice peronw" intrigues with its subtlety, while "Twarz wroga" mesmerizes with its trance-like motifs and ventures into free jazz territory.
