Zool. is the alter ego of Gerry Vergult. To most people know under the name of Fred Angst, member of the renowned Belgian 80's postpunk band Aroma di Amore. On his 5th album, Zool. re-invents the ambient shapes and forms of his early work. Sonic textures and dubconscious low frequencies are still the canvas for Zool.s minimalistic and subtle guitar and piano tapestries. But this time beats are humbly restricted to subliminal rhythmic patterns that add bounding to the melancholy. 'The Time Remaining' is a slow record that hopes to create a moodscape to the things that really matter in life. And it's about humanism too, humanism that can be hard to find these days.
