Womack & Womack
Celebrate The World
Husband and Wife duo Cecil and Linda Womack both grew up in families steeped in musical heritage. As a young girl Linda met Cecil when the Womack family, known as the Valentinos (and including Soul Legend Bobby Womack) were singing professionally with her father the legendary Sam Cooke. Through the 70s Cecil and Linda developed an impressive musical reputation as songwriters, and as musicians, playing with such great artists as The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, The OJays and Stephanie Mills. Their songwriting talent resulted in a succession of international hit records for The Four Tops, Rod Stewart, Chaka Khan, Wilson Pickett, George Benson, Teddy Pendergrass, Patti LaBelle and Bobby Womack. Having laid their foundation as successful songwriters Womack & Womack debuted as artists in their own right in the mid-1980's with the global smash hit single "Love Wars". Their most successful period as artists came in the late 1980's with the album 'Conscience', which resulted in 4 hit singles (including global top ten smash "Teardrops"), went gold in 10 countries and platinum in 3. This film of the Celebrate The World tour contains all of the hits from Cecil and Linda's time as artists and shows the Womacks at their very best.
