Williams, R.r.

Unremarkable Lives

Braiding together Heartland rock, poignant acoustic balladry, and country-tinged folk, he lays bare the urgent matters that haunt the dark and quiet moments: Purpose, Fate, Destiny, Redemption. Unremarkable Lives was recorded at Purple Aura Studio (also known as John Moreland's house). "We would start with just the vocals and guitar and build from there" Williams explains. "A few songs turned into band arrangements, and some stayed just acoustic recorded live". In addition to Williams on vocals, bass, and drums, the record features drummer Steve Walden and keyboardist Dustin Howard on the title track. Moreland engineered and produced the album, sang backing vocals, and played bass, drums, and electric guitar. There is still art being made in this modern life that doesn't necessarily ?t into a genre, a time, or a place. Fundamentally, these are rock'n'roll songs imbued with a cutting, unvarnished honesty; "the title track is about when my wife and I both lost our jobs at the same time, starting over from scratch in our late 30's, and trying to ?nd the good in that situation.
