Introducing The Volver Trio
The "Introducing the Volver Trio" Project takes its name from the famous song of the Argentine composer, singer and actor Carlos Gardel (1890-1935) and takes up some great classics, especially ballads (tango, bolero) from Mexico, Argentina, Cuba and Brazil, little frequent in the repertoires of North American and European jazz musicians, with the exception of the American double bassist Charlie Haden. As in the jazz tradition, these songs from the 1930s and 1960s are reinterpreted and rearranged in a modern key, with the intention however of remaining faithful (Volver means to return) to the original "romantic" Latin American inspiration. Songs of love, nostalgia and sometimes pain are re-proposed in a personal way by the trio formed by Paolo Manasse (piano), Riccardo Vigore (double bass) and Marco Volpe (drums).
