Ultha
The Inextricable Wandering
Finally available again! Ultha's third album "The Inextricable Wandering" (2018) is black metal par excellence and has only been released on Century Media. Vendetta is finally making the sold-out vinyl available again. "The Inextricable Wandering" is a concept album (Hossa!) in six acts about the topic of fear. And the frightening icy cold already creeps in subliminally in the 15-minute opener "The Avarist". As if the Norwegian noisemakers from the distant nineties were celebrating their happy origins, this long track already offers everything that defines black metal as such: uncompromising but at the same time predictable, otherworldly vocals (which largely run through all the songs anyway), blast beats versus double bass blasts, the available ones Guitar chords are limited, which gives the whole thing a threatening monotony. Basses were saved, but trebles were not skimpy. The fact that the song slows down the tempo a little towards the end only makes the matter even rougher and more threatening. Ultha also carry out this concept mercilessly on the other songs and thus write perhaps their best album.
