Trio Edone
Johannes Brahms: Complete Piano Trios
This double CD offers the listener a captivating experience and a thorough panorama over a variety of moods, musical intentions, and ideas, inviting their imagination to a wonderful Romantic itinerary. It comprises the three "official" Trios for piano and bowed string instruments written by Brahms (one of which, the first, op. 8, was composed when he was in his early twenties but thoroughly revised approximately thirty-five years later), plus a Piano Trio attributed to him and found in 1924 by a German musicologist. The attribution is not uncontroversial, but objectively the musical worth of this seldom-heard work is such that it fully justifies at least its performance and recording, but possibly also the august attribution to the great Romantic composer.
