Teenage Moods
Select Buds
Teenage Moods have been one of the busiest bands in the Minneapolis music scene since 2009, honing their early sweet take on punk and garage in a K Records vein over the course of two albums, "Mood Ring" (2011) and "Grow" (2013), both released on 25 Diamonds. The latter brought about a fuller sound which incorporated catchy new wave nods and resulted in a glowing and wonderful collection of songs. After some line-up changes, late 2014 saw the release of "Rosebuds", a limited cassette on their hometown's No Problem Records, where Teenage Moods kept taking steps forward and produced their poppiest moments to date, combining drive and rhythm with tingling, enveloping guitars and infectious melodies. Tenorio Cotobade now gathers five out of the eight tracks on that cassette to bring you "Select Buds", a 12" which shows the band at their most sparkling. There's a sweet and slightly psychedelic undercurrent that brings to mind classic references such as Brian Wilson and Syd Barrett, but the delivery of these immediately grabbing songs is fantastically Teenage Moods.
