Spectrum Orchestrum

Noziroh

2007: In the suburbs of Lille, a group of musicians meet while taking part in an improvisation workshop. Their backgrounds were different and they had little in common in the way of musical tastes. But they soon discovered, in the spontaneity of the collective improvisation, that they shared an affinity for a strange vibration, for a sound they called 'spectral', for want of a less obscure name - and perhaps also because this sound had something of a ghostly voice, well buried but present in the musical chaos they were creating and which, to their ears, turned out to be... haunted. So they decided to join forces in the service of this indefinable ghostly vibration: Spectrum Orchestrum was born.Since then, the Orchestrum has been working on a unique and patient composition. Today, you could detect in its music echoes of jazz and free-jazz, jazz-rock and prog-rock, Zeuhl and R.I.O., math-rock and post-rock, krautrock and pop, metal and 'classical' music, certain film soundtracks and traditional music... But without ever consciously subscribing to one of these genres or sub-genres in particular. Rather, it seeks to make manifest the subterranean ways in which all these musics communicate with each other, the ways in which they are all secretly haunted. And, when all is said and done, it may well be this strange resonance that these musicians perceived in 2007, and which they decided to call 'the spectral'..."NOZIROH", their third album, is without doubt the best arranged, the best produced, the most fluid, the most varied, the most accessible, in short: the most pop of their discography. It marks the return of Spectrum Orchestrum and proves that they are more spectral than ever!
