Soul Jazz Rebels, The
Iconiq
After "Chitlin Circuit" in 2016 and "The Soul Jazz Rebels" in 2019, albums marked with an infallible Soul / Jazz / Blues imprint, it is an unusual adventure to board the new Soul Jazz Rebels train for a journey beyond the frontiers of this music! From Mauritius (Ambalaba) to Cameroon (Bango, Bango), from Switzerland (Are You Sure) to La Ciotat for a bit of (Flèchetanque), it is towards the USA that our four musicians then head for a dancing return to their roots (The Shuffle Dancer) and (Bouncy), soul and funky (What Else) before getting back on the express towards France (Train Fou) Jubilation could have been the title of this new album (if this title had not already been taken) as the group's original compositions and arrangements reveal an exaltation and an exciting game in all the stations of this new circuit: Jean Vernhères on tenor sax, Cyril Amourette on guitar, Hervé Saint-Guirons on Hammond organ and Ton Ton Salute on drums, not one of these musicians is leader of this eight years old, but already iconic group !
