Plurals
Bugenes Melissae
Plurals are a regularly gigging band based in Brighton and London, have toured extensively with genre heavyweights Aidan Baker/Nadja and in 2013 released the collaborative album "Glass Crocodile Medicine" with Aidan as part of Southern Records Latitudes series. In a release history that treads into drone, ambient, avant garde, noise and psychedelic worlds on disc and vinyl, Bugenès Melissae is their twelfth outing and their most mature and captivating release to date. Two lush, organic drones slowly unfold and take the listener on a journey through nature as well as urban and industrial environments, painted through restrained use of electric guitars, synth, voice, clarinet, field recordings and other elements. Melodic and soothing tunes are contrasted with elements of noise, creating a tension that grabs ones attention up to the very last second. Bugenès Melissae goes right back to the very roots of drone, without ever sounding out-of-date. Plurals dedicate this album to bees and bumblebees, two species that are critically endangered in the UK due to changes in agriculture that have destroyed almost 97% of the countrys untouched grasslands since the 1930s. All profits will be donated to the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. Bugenès Melissa is limited to 500 copies on transparent orange vinyl, housed in 100% recycled sleeves with completely hand-drawn artwork by Disa Wallander and the band itself.
