Matterhorn- Das Musical
It was an Englishman (of all people) who - in the summer of 1865 - first conquered the notorious MATTERHORN. The impossible mountain gives this new musical sensation its name and tells the story of its first ascent, with fearless mountaineer Edward Whymper at its centre. The captivating result is a tale of greed and success, where the outlined conflict between the two reveals the human heart of the play to both its characters and its audience. Presented in stark contrast to the sheer force of nature, critically acclaimed author MICHAEL KUNZE manages to illuminate a disagreement, which - in all its complexity - is more relevant than ever. It is with this piece that the playwright returns to St Gallen, having previously presented productions of Rebecca, tanz der Vampire and the world premiere of Don Camillo & Peppone there. Musically, the story is carried by the unparalleled compositions of none other than ALBERT HAMMOND, arranged and orchestrated by KOEN SCHOOTS.
