Anatomy Of Anarchy
OLIWOOD is a project by Berlin drummer/composer Oli Steidle. For each production he puts together a different line up, which performs and records music, specially written for the actual band setting. The first recording was featuring music, based on Improvisation and Compositions with a Rock Neue Musik and Groove oriented background, preformed by Frank Gratkowski, Kalle Kalima and Trevor Dunn, with electric Bass and Guitar and a sampler. For the new/second album the vision was to present music in a complete acoustic line up, with a modern approach of so called Jazz from the 60's. The result is an electrifying, intense mixture of music, which is moving from rubato, over solos and collective improvisations, among complex compositions towards improvisations over crazy forms. . ANATOMY OF ANARCHY should underline the way, of how Evans, Mahall, Landfermann and Steidle play together, create bows and ideas, deconstruct compositions and develop tension, colors, illusions, multi layered rhythms in a sometimes harmonious, sometimes competitive way. Their ability to move between inside and outside creates a picture full of different dynamics, tensions and moods - four master musicians that are internationally well known for their great influence on modern Jazz Music.
