Old Man Markley
Down Side Up
OLD MAN MARKLEY burst onto the scene in 2010 armed with their punk rock sensibilities, an ear for pop melodies, a love for Bluegrass deep within their hearts, and a van full of traditional instruments, ranging from a fiddle to a homemade washtub bass and everything in between. The result has been phenomenal. Their first album, Guts n Teeth, debuted at #8 on the Billboard Bluegrass charts, and established the bands "Newgrass" sound as a welcome addition to both the traditional Americana and punk rock worlds. Its 13 addictively melodic tracks are built around silky smooth 3 part harmonies, guided by a galloping rhythm, and laced with lightning fast banjo, playful violin, and just about every other traditional instrument you can imagine. With NOFXs Fat Mike as producer, Down Side Up still showcases that punk rock influence that OMM are known for, but it also expands the depth of their Bluegrass side.
