Naima Quartet
Zephyr
Alternately joyful and light, melancholic and sweet or more electric and dark, this album is a reflection of our contemporary life. It is like an autumn sky that lets the light pass through and then suddenly darkens. The Naïma Quartet is tossed between optimism and questioning, between ostensible cheerfulness and intimacy but also between tradition and modernity. It does not choose sides. The band offers a varied music built around the affirmed voice and bass lines of Naïma Girou. Real guardian of groove and rhythm, Thomas Doméné forms with Naïma the base on which the flights of Jules Le Risbé on piano and John Owens on guitar can be supported. They play a simple, beautiful and open jazz that reflects their states of mind, their concerns and their hopes.
