Moreno & L'orch First Moja-one
Sister Pili + 2
Moreno Batamba's flame burned right bright and beautiful, but short. Way too short. In 1993, with an album riding the Kenyan Charts, he died aged only 38 and while his name still raise fond memories in Kenya, on the international stage he has become almost invisible. Originally from Kisangani in eastern Congo (then Zaire). Moreno left school for music in 1971 and moved to join fellow congolese musicians in Uganda and 2 years later in Kenya and sings for the renowned Orchestra Safari Sound. In 1983 Moreno joined Samba mapangela's Orchestra Virunga for the classic Mabiala album. In between he started up L' Orch Bana Nzadi and several Orchestra Mojo One bands...Check out this fines Moreno work. The joy and energy in these recordings show just why.
