Maria Manousaki is considered one of the most successful and versatile musicians in Greece's jazz and world music scene. 'Behind Closed Doors' is Marias interpretation of periods of loss, sadness and dark times which will inevitably be followed by a renewal and rejuvenation of the human spirit. The analogy is of nature in which winter, with its loss and darkness opens into spring with its renewal of life, hope and human resilience. In addition to her own music, she also organises the Cretan World Music Festival in Chania, which is a lively international exchange.
