Khan, Aisha
The Magnificent Twelve
Londons Rhythm & Blues Queen Aisha Khan backed by her outstanding band the Rajahs. Its both a labour of love and a culmination of a decades long dream. The album is a collection of twelve mostly original duets with some of her favourite contemporary Roots music heroes from both sides of The Pond. Inspired many years ago by the inimitable collection of musical pairings on the Ella and her Fellas recording, the idea of an album of duets with different performers had been a long held fantasy. As a prolific songwriter with a growing collection of songs that lent themselves perfectly to being collaborations, Aisha found the album taking shape organically over the last few years. She has been performing for over thirty years and along the way became friends with many of the guests on the album today. With influences ranging from Jump Blues to Country the album was mostly recorded in London at Cowshed studios and produced by Spanish guitarist, musician and producer extraordinaire, Mario Cobo
