Kaynatan, Gokcen
Firtina
A long overdue official reissue of an Istanbul holy grail 45 that none of our Turkish record collector friends have even seen a copy of: Gokcen Kaynatan's Kaynatan's first release from 1966 "Moda / Firtina". GK was recently honored by Finders Keepers with an LP reissue of his 70s-era pioneering in electronic realms (that reminds of SUICIDE, but with heavy Anatolian flavor). These two tracks are quite different -- from his early years as a teenage rocknroller -- but while mostly drenched in the twang of his custom built guitar and smattered with some seriously swingin' drumming, you can already hear early experimentation with the electronic. If you're a DJ, you'll definitely wanna spin both sides of this, and you'll want to file it alongside your copy of CountDown! by Jimmie Haskell.
