Abdullah Ibrahim himself considered this concert as an "Autobiography", the peak moment of his produced expression. The musician's entire history, culture, encounters and queries come to light in this amazing journey. One has the feeling that, deep inside, he reconstituted, reorganized and recomposed while still preserving the essential, his culture and his evolution since his childhood: music and popular songs (South African, black American jazz, European classical music etc.). This great South-African pianist, first produced by Duke Ellington, played this concert in 1978. Through this reissue, we may now discover how Abdullah Ibrahim totally assimilated Ellington and Monk, giving them a new meaning.
