Hayley And The Crushers
Unsubscribed From The Underground (green)
This latest slab o' wax from Detroit's Hayley and the Crushers features the band's recent string of digital singles on side A, and a pummeling live set from the band on side B. The follow-up to 2022's Modern Adult Kicks sees the band in top form, with studio tracks produced by Kitten Robot mainman Paul Roessler (T.S.O.L., Pat the Bunny, Lords of Altamont) and live tracks recorded at Continental in Detroit. From Faster and Louder: "'Unsubscribe' is vintage Crushers but by no means a copy of the group's past hits. It's a punky earworm that will have you dancing around the house, but it's also vaguely haunting and quite deep lyrically." From Jammerzine: "Jangle pop masquerading as poppy Americana; or twangy nostalgia turning into happy alternative. Whatever your conclusion is or whatever you think 'Blood and Treasure' may be stylistically, one thing stands true throughout this first (listen); this song will stick in your memory for a long time."
