The Big Flow
His permanent search for contemporary grooves and sounds lets HELLMUT HATTLER become one of the most relevant protagonists of the german musicians scene. HATTLER, his third project, after making music in groundbreaking bands like KRAAN and TAB TWO, has now become a piece of pop culture. It is maybe the mix of a now 54 year old guy in a group of young creative peopl, which makes this release something very special. On ,The Big Flow", the fi rst regular-HATTLER album for three years sounds more directly, which not at last comes from the newcomer FOLA DADA, who joined the project.. The young singer is a great discovery. With their self-conscious, US-like timbre she fi ts perfectly to beats and loops and gives a very unique breathtaking mark to it. For example in the highly complex electro-analog song ,Assalamu Alaikum" she acts as a calming infl uence, in ,Sesame" it is like a perfect fusion of her voice and the deep fretless bass. This instrument is one of the keys for this unique sound. ,No Take will sound like another" says HATTLER.
