The Better Angles Of Our Nature
Five albums and a decade in, Glossary singer Joey Kneiser has the right to ponder whether rock 'n' roll -- day jobs to support playing for gas money, putting out records on small labels or, as with this one, giving it away on the web -- is worth it. From the evidence of Better Angels, it certainly is. Kneiser's restless, weary tales of life, love, religion and musicianship succeed because hope underpins them. "Shout It From The Rooftops" opens with a shout and builds from there. "Chase Me Out Of The Dark" clings to the belief that love carries you through. On the hurting "Bitter Branch", he insists, "You're never at a loss for words/And the ones you say you don't take back." "Blood On The Knobs" pledges, "We'll walk on that stage and play like it's the last time...'cause it might be." This is music for anyone "still holding onto rock 'n' roll" as if life depended on it. Finally available again on cd!
