Giovannucci, Sebastian
Il Ballo Della Sala
The repertoire is the result of a work of listening and analyzing audio documents, chosen according to their geographical origin, with a focus on nineteenth-century society dances (peasant contradances). During the analysis, the rhythmic-melodic characteristics of the organetto instrument were identified, with the aim of recreating the atmosphere of a ball evening in intimate and familiar contexts. In the second half of the nineteenth century, in Italy, the forms of cultured dance migrate towards the popular repertoire, adapting to the style and ethics of traditional dance. These dances are remodeled in a simple way and adapted to the technical and musical possibilities. They soon find general favor, as they generate opportunities for socialization and offer less rigid and more amusing schemes than the traditional ancestral dance.
