Maschinentanz
Hit-laden songs at the intersection of Electro-Pop and EBM. On their second album "Maschinentanz", f.o.d. effectively continue down the path they embarked on with their debut. With vocal support from ex-Blutengel Eva Poelzing and a sack full of club-compatible, emotional and melodic tunes, the trios groovy machine dance is enhanced by German and English lyrics that can be contemplative, tongue in cheek or rather direct. The young German Electro-nauts avoid being easily pigeonholed, assembling a distinctive, yet brazenly catchy, eclectic sound of their own from the various stylistic possibilities that synthetic music has to offer. Serving as the long-awaited missing link between the Bodypop of And One, the Minimal-gadgetry of Welle:Erdball and the Melodic Electro sound of bands like Solitary Experiments, "Maschinentanz" is rather effective.
