Dota
Wir Rufen Dich, Galaktika
A little more than a year has passed since the successful album "Kalko" (8 weeks in the GfK album charts!). With necessarily less concerts than usual behind them, DOTA and their perfectly rehearsed band, expanded by the newly added bassist ALEX BINDER, present their next studio album. The fear that the sympathetic Berliners could run out of steam at some point with this consistent output proves to be completely unfounded once again. What succeeds perfectly again on "Wir Rufen Dich, Galaktika" is the retention of the cherished qualities with simultaneous variation of influences and motifs. A touch more pop and wave through PATRICK REISING's keyboards, the newly added plucking melodic bass is not to be ignored. DOTA's lyrics seem more sophisticated than ever: no criticism, no political point, without ruthlessly thinking about their own bias. Love songs full of tender sad realism. Not a few songs full of melancholy, sung with a voice that instills confidence and trust even when it confesses to not knowing how to go on. Political, poetic, humorous and lustful - even without the help of a little purple fairy, DOTA and her band create brilliantly balanced German-language pop with more than enough substance for the long haul.
