Dixon, Floyd
Fine Fine Thing
As a writer/piano player and vocalist, Dixon helped define the early West Coast and Jump Blues genre. Since winning the W.C. Handy Award For Comeback Album Of The Year in 1997, he's kept a low profile, concentrating on writing songs and occasionally performing at festivals. Floyd Dixon's life has always been a testament to hard work. Before his music career began to flourish, he worked in a drug store, studied hotel management, and caddied at the local golf course. He became a staple on the concert circuit following the success of "Hey Bartender" before stepping away from the stage in the 70s to devote time to his family. Since returning to action in the 80s he's lived up to the praise given to him by Living Blues Magazine, which said, "Floyd is a musical genius, excelling at vibrant jump blues, rockin' piano boogies, and sophisticated West Coast Blues. " Fine! Fine! Thing! brings this amazing life full circle, but for this vital, creative dynamic, it seems that the best of all may very well be yet to come.
