De Masi, Francesco
Il Segno Del Coyote
We sanctify this year, 2019, in which Francesco de Masis music has been given important tributes, among which being chosen for Quentin Tarantinos last movie, ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, making available once again a score we dearly love and which has been out of stock for some time, IL SEGNO DEL COYOTE. The movie was released in 1963 and directed by Mario Caiano, another artist very dear to Beat Records and the subject of a video included on our CD release of the wonderful score for NAPOLI SPARA! (Beat Records CDCR83), created by Filippo de Masi and Daniele De Gemini, who filmed and interviewed the aging director at his mansion. The music by Maestro de Masi, already available on a double-bill with the score of CE SARTANA, VENDI LA PISTOLA E COMPRATI LA BARA!, represents the first Italian score for a Western movie, still without the trademarks that would define the genre from the following year. Instead, the music composed by the Maestro was a wink to the Hollywood productions of the day, written in his typical symphonic style. Now available integrally in our classic CDCR series featuring a lot of unreleased music, with mastering by Enrico De Gemini, graphic layout by Daniele De Gemini, liner notes by Filippo de Masi and English edit by Josh Mitchell.
