Da'angw
Chants Des Iraqw
The Iraqw live in north-central Tanzania on a high plateau between Lake Manyara and Lake Eyasi. They number around half a million and speak a Cushitic language. Their neighbours speak completely different languages, and the region is also characterised by great cultural diversity and a variety of economic lifestyles. These rare recordings were collected over several years as part of linguistic fieldwork led by Dr. Maarten Mous of the University of Leiden in the Netherlands.
