Bo Weavil
A Blessing In Disguise
A veteran of well trodden stages across the globe, Bo Weavil has played more than 2,000 concerts since his arrival in 1995. A child of Paris suckled on the nourishing teet of the blues scene on both sides of the Atlantic, his percussive guitar style and soulful, fleshy voice earned him support slots with luminaries such as Ben Harper and Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings. He has graced festival stages across Europe including the Eurockéennes de Belfort, Cognac Blues Passion and Mont-Tremblant (Montreal-Canada), as well as ranking highly at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Showered with accolades from France Blues (best album 2001, best European artist 2004) and The Cognac Blues Passion Prize in 2011, Bo Weavil`s music upholds the rich history of the blues whilst embracing the multitudinous diversity of the modern era. His experience as a child always on the road, immersed in folk, blues and African rhythms, informs his work with a deep, heartfelt honesty and give him a tangible authenticity. His road-worn voice above his percussive guitars, harmonicas and stompboxes invites the listener on a journey on which they can almost taste the dust of a thousand miles on their lips. With the release of his latest album "A Blessing In Disguise", Bo Weavil explores a desire to fuse his original blues sound with new experiences, resulting in a tapestry of songs in English and Spanish which incorporate Afro-Caribbean polyrhythms. Inspired by the Mandinka culture of West Africa and the Sahara, the swaying rhythms of the islands of Jamaica and Cuba, skirting the Gulf of Mexico towards New Orleans and onto the borders of Latin-America, "A Blessing In Disguise" is a long-distance journey to the shores of 'World Blues'.
