Barboza, Raul & Juanjo Dominguez

Que Nadie Sepa Mi Sufrir

Raul Barboza first sets foot in France in 1987 with no papers. And there he realises that he can't classify himself in any musical genre. He's from Argentina, but doesn't play tango or bandoneon. "Are you Indian? askes someone in the assistance. I looked at myself in the mirror and all of a sudden I realised. At home we never talked about this." Barboza discovers towards himself a new kind of freedom, everything is allowed, first of all "the music that I thought I couldn't play over there because of internal racism". The other accordionists gave him a place : the Galliano's, Azzola, Daniel Colin, Jo Privat and the prestigious academy of Charles-Cros gave him a prize. Shared as soon as possible with his musician friends from Buenos Aires "the ones we leave in the shadow, who, just like me, were pulled back. Like Gardel, I like "to give the flower to the unprettiest girl"."
