Andy, Horace
Strictly Ranking: The Blackbeard Years 1977
Horace Andy is one of the best known names in reggae. His long collaboration with British trip-hop outfit Massive Attack has given international recognition to the falsetto voice of this Jamaican artist. He collaborated with producers such as Bunny Lee, Tappa Zukie and Rodguel Blackbeard Sinclair over the years, and Strictly Ranking retraces those fruitful collaborations. A truly golden age of roots reggae, where Blackbeard was surrounded by renowned musicians, such as Robbie Shakespear on the bass or Santa Davis on the drums, plus the assistance of King Tubby - on one of his best achievements. The 12 tracks featured on here are rare and/or unreleased.
