Amanda

Recuerdo Vivo

Amanda was the first name of Victor Jara's mother. It is also the first name of his daughter. Victor Jara is this Chilean singer tortured and murdered by the military junta on September 16, 1973, in the Santiago stadium, five days after the coup d'état led by Augusto Pinochet. Victor Jara was a communist who spoke of love, like his artistic "mentor" Violeta Parra, or his Argentine "model" Atahualpa Yupanqui. Reviving their songs is an act of memory, love and joy. it is also the affirmation that barbarism kills but cannot silence, neither fifty years later, nor ever. Amanda brings together poetry, energy and Latin American history in a trio, untouched or revisited tempos, all in original Spanish. Colorized black and white. Remember you Amanda_With Georges Nounou on guitar and vocals, Didier Franco (violin, viola, backing vocals) and Thierry Klein on percussion and backing vocals.
