The up-and-coming ensemble ActeSix, surrounded by the greatest artists of a generation - singers Lucile Richardot, Maïlys de Villoutreys and Anaïs Bertrand, pianists Adam Laloum and Alexis Gournel, violist Hélène Desaint, violinist Julie Dessaint and harpsichordist Ronan Khalil - and led by the brilliant Samuel Hengebaert, has produced an exceptional double album that is as melancholy as it is jubilant. Inspired by Virginia Woolf's manifesto "A Room of One's Own", ActeSix pays tribute to the female composers (and male) who have left their mark on the history of the "Crowned Isle" and to the lush, hushed colours of English music from the 17th century to the present day. From Benjamin Britten to Rebecca Clarke, via Henry Purcell, Ethel Smyth and Mary Dering, ActeSix offers an invitation to a musical journey through the nature and landscapes of England.
