1 - DYLAN, BOB - 1962: THE WITMARK DEMOS - (LP)
WAX LOVE

In the spring of 1962, folk music manager Albert Grossman began to take an active interest in Dylan. He proposed that Dylan sign with the prestigious publisher M. Witmark & Sons. Dylan signed a contract with Witmark on July 12 and immediately recorded a demo of what would become his breakthrough song, "Blowin' in the Wind". Four months passed before Dylan returned to record another song, "Ye Playboys and Playgirls", but the next month, in December, he showed up with many new compositions, including three that would become classics of his, "A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall", "Ballad of Hollis Brown", and "Tomorrow Is a Long Time". All of Dylans 1962 demos for Witmark are reproduced here on Wax Love.

8 - DYLAN, BOB - CONSTRUCTING THE LEGEND - (LP)
LETTHEMEATVINYL

Released March 19, 1962, Bob Dylans first album is a rather curious affair. The record contains only two original compositions, but more to the point, some of the songs cut at these sessions had not been performed live by him and never would be. Dylan stated in an interview in 2000 that he didnt want to reveal too much of himself

14 - DYLAN, BOB - FREEWHEELIN' OUTTAKES - (LP)
WAX LOVE

Unlike his debut - which took only two days in the studio to record - The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan finally emerged in May 1963 after some 8 sessions at Columbia Records Studio A, over the course of nearly a year. The time and effort paid off in spades, as he emerged from the studio a fully-formed bona fide songwriter with a legitimate hit on his hands. Obviously, the final album left much material on the cutting room floor and Wax Love is pleased to bring some of that rarely heard material back to light. A mix of originals that never made it onto any LP, alternate takes, and cover songs, Freewheelin' Outtakes: The Columbia Sessions, NYC, 1962 captures America's most important living songwriter at a pivotal moment in his career when he emerged from the Greenwich Village folk scene to become the voice of his generation.

24 - DYLAN, BOB - OH MERCY - (LP)
4 MEN WITH BEAR

180 gram LP. Released in 1989, Oh Mercy is often considered to be Dylan's greatest comeback record, as it came after a long string of badly reviewed albums. Produced by Daniel Lanois in New Orleans, it was hailed by most critics as a triumph. The swampy, organic and hazy atmospheric production was unlike anything ever released by Dylan before and as Robert Christgau of The Village Voice wrote, "Daniel Lanois's understated care and easy beat suit [Dylan's] casual ways, and three or four songs might sound like something late at night on the radio, or after the great flood." Oh Mercy, featuring standout tracks such as "Ring Them Bells", "Most Of The Time", "Man In The Long Black Coat" and "Shooting Star", is Dylan's best chart record in years reaching #30 on the Billboard charts in the US and #6 in the UK.

TRACKLISTING: 01. Political World 02. Where Teardrops Fall 03. Everything Is Broken 04. Ring Them Bell 05. Man In The Long Black Coat 06. Most Of The Time 07. What Good Am I? 08. Disease Of Conceit 09. What Was It You Wanted 10. Shooting Star

25 - DYLAN, BOB - ROBERT ZIMMERMAN PLAYS... (PD) - (LP)
DOXY

As the title, Robert Zimmerman Plays Bob Dylan, implies, these recordings show the young man we all now know as Dylan finding his way in NYC after bumming a ride from Madison in the early months of 1961. Featuring songs that were left off of his first two Columbia LPs, Bob Dylan and The Freewheelin Bob Dylan, as well as other assorted demos and unreleased recordings, this essential LP of early recordings perfectly captures his growth from traditional folk music interpreter into what he would become: Americas greatest living songwriter, pressed on a limited edition picture disc.

27 - DYLAN, BOB - STUDS TERKELS WAX MUSEUM - (LP)
LET THEM EAT VI

STUNNING 180 GRAM VINYL RELEASE OF THIS BOB DYLAN LIVE PERFORMANCE 1000 ONLY LIMITED EDITION On the morning of April 25 1963, directly after the conclusion of his final Freewheelin Bob Dylan album session, Bob journeyed to Chicago for a live club appearance and a radio interview. The gig, on the evening of the same day, was at a newly opened club called The Bear, in which manager Albert Grossman was a partner. But the primary reason for the 700-mile excursion west was for Dylan to appear on a radio show the following evening, hosted by the extraordinary Studs Terkel. Capturing the entire broadcast, during which Dylan is questioned and discusses with Studs his thoughts and ideas behind both the songs he performs and others he had written by this juncture, this CD contains a legendary event during which a 21 year old Bob Dylan also performs full acoustic versions of 7 self penned numbers.

28 - DYLAN, BOB - THE KAREN WALLACE TAPE, MAY 1960 - (LP)
CORNBREAD

Minneapolis/St. Paul, May 1960: a young Bob Dylan, still known as Robert Zimmerman and not yet even 19 years old, decides to drop out of college to move to New York City and pursue a career in folk music. That same month he plays a small gathering at Karen Wallace's apartment in St. Paul - Karen's sister, Terri, was an early fan and supporter of Dylan's - mostly covering American folk and blues standards, which he'd become obsessed with since starting at the University. Still a few years before his self-titled debut, this tape is one of the earliest documents of early Dylan, and since Karen Wallace attempted to sell the tape for $10,000 in the 1970s and subsequently disappeared along with the tape, its life is another great story in the history of Bob Dylan, one of the most enigmatic and idiosyncratic celebrities of the 20th Century.

TRACKLISTING: 01. Introduction & Unknown Song 02. Pastures Of Plenty 03. Muleskinner Blues (complete Song) 04. Go Down Ye Murderers 05. This Land Is Your Land 06. Rockabye My Sarah Jane 07. Nobody Wants You 08. Great Historical Bum 09. Mary Ann 10. Sinner Man 11. Abner Young 12. One Eyed Jacks 13. Columbia Stockade Blues 14. Payday At Coal Creek 15. Two Sisters (complete Song)

29 - DYLAN, BOB - THE MCKENZIE TAPES - (LP)
LETTHEMEATVINYL

Shortly after Bob Dylan arrived in New York in January 1961, he met Eve and Mac McKenzie at Gerdes Folk City, introduced to him by Woody Guthries wife, Marjorie. Folk enthusiasts, the McKenzies had an apartment north of the Village where some of the young would-be folk musicians often met up. Dylan became a regular visitor and soon a houseguest too, sleeping on the couch in the familys living room. This release features the best of all three of the recordings Bob completed at the apartment all of which were made on a vintage reel-to-reel tape machine in the informal setting of the McKenzie apartment.
