In December of 2010, Joe Nolan traveled to Nashville, Tennessee to record his third album "Goodbye Cinderella". The album was produced by award-winning producer Colin Linden and featured some of Nashvilles most storied players including Spooner Oldham (Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin and Neil Young) on keyboards, Charlie McCoy (Bob Dylan, Elvis, Simon & Garfunkel) on harmonica, Dave Roe (Johnny Cash, John Mellencamp) on acoustic bass, Chris Donahue (Emmylou Harris, Robert Plant) on electric bass, Bryan Owings (Emmylou Harris, Tony Joe White, Delbert McClinton) on drums, along with producer Linden (Bruce Cockburn, Lucinda Williams) on electric guitars and vocals. The record was brilliantly recorded by John Whynot (Blue Rodeo, Loreena McKennitt) who also contributed keyboards on a few songs. The recording features 10 new Joe Nolan compositions and shows a quantum leap in maturity and confidence. Joes beautiful combination of sweet, sad lyrics and haunting vocals come from a deep well that shows a young mans heart and an old mans soul. Protest songs, love songs, songs with questions and songs with answers created a collection that has the listener wanting more.

When international acts tour Scandinavia and the Rootsy circuit, they sometimes get a couple of days off and a lot of them prefer to spend their spare time at the Rootsy HQ, a big old house in the outskirts of Norrtlje, about an hour north of Stockholm. They hang around, talk music, drink coffee and relax. And since a part of the kitchen and the living room was turned into a recording studio, it's become even more popular to stay there a day or two.In April 2019 Canadian singer/songwriter recorded seven songs with house engineer John Gullmarstam, and it turned out so well that we decided to make the recordings into the first volume of a, hopefully, long series of Rootsy House Sessions.'Rootsy House Sessions: Joe Nolan will be released digitally worldwide November 15. Early December it's time to release the strictly limited 10" vinyl version. A true, future collectors item! Its hard to believe it was only in 2011 that Joe Nolan released his debut album, Goodbye Cinderella. At that time he was heralded by the Globe & Mail, No Depression and other publications as a roots rock wunderkind, an opinion confirmed by his 2014 Colin Linden-produced follow-up, Tornado. However, along with the acclaim came complications at odds with his creative vision. In 2018 Joe returned with Cry Baby, an album that finally opens up what Nolan has kept locked tightly for the past three years. The 10-song collection was a trip through melancholic madness, touching on darkness and depression, broken relationships and endless booze-fuelled evenings. Yet, at its core was Nolans unwavering strength as a lyricist, and his wounded-heart delivery that reminds us of our humanity. Cry Baby was, in essence, Nolan unapologetically sharing his story, and through that finding a second chance and a new beginning.
